Cheetahs & Leopards

Both Cheetahs and Leopards are in the Felid Family. However, Cheetahs are in their own Genus, Acinonyx, whereas Leopards are part of the Big Cats, specifically the Roaring Cats Genus, Panthera. Both are listed as Vulnerable to extinction.

How do you tell the difference between a leopard and a cheetah? There are many ways, including size and build, but the easiest way is to look at the face. Cheetahs have what appears to be a mask, those vertical lines running up each side of their muzzle and inside each eye.

My selection of images is a bit repetitive, especially of the leopard licking its chops. I had so much fun watching and photographing this happy cat and wanted to share that.
